Growing Instructions:

Soil: Select a well-draining, rich soil mix. Hydrangeas thrive in slightly acidic to neutral pH. Amend your soil with compost for added nutrients.

Sowing: Plant your seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost date or directly outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. Scatter the seeds on the surface of the soil and lightly press them in, but do not cover them completely.

Light: Place the seed trays in a warm area (around 70°F to 75°F). Once germination occurs, ensure they receive plenty of bright, indirect sunlight.

Watering: Mist the soil with water to keep it consistently moist but not soggy. Use a spray bottle to avoid disturbing the seeds.

Thin Seedlings: Once seedlings develop their first true leaves, thin them out to allow for healthy growth. Space them about 12-18 inches apart.

Transplanting: After the last frost and once seedlings are strong enough, transplant them into your garden or larger pots. Choose a location with partial shade to protect them from the harsh afternoon sun.

Care:

Care Tips: Regular deadheading will encourage more blooms, and fertilizing with a balanced fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season will support their vibrant display.

Know More:

Hardiness Zones: Hydrangeas are perennial in USDA hardiness zones 3-9, ensuring they come back year after year in those regions. In zones 10-11, they may behave as annuals, requiring replanting each season.

Blooming Details: Expect vibrant blooms from mid-summer to early fall, with flowers lasting up to 8 weeks. Their lush foliage and colorful blooms will create a stunning display in your garden.

Mature Height: Mature Hydrangea plants typically reach heights of 3 to 6 feet, with a spread of 3 to 5 feet, depending on the variety.

Additional Watering & Care: Water your Hydrangeas deeply once a week, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. They prefer partial shade, especially in hotter climates, to prevent wilting.

For a vibrant garden plant with these:

Companion Plants: Hydrangeas flourish alongside other shade-loving plants like Hostas, Astilbes, and Ferns, which enhance their beauty and create a lush garden environment.

Seed Viability & Storage: Our Hydrangea seeds remain viable for up to 3 years. Store them in a cool, dark place in a sealed container to maintain their freshness for future planting.

Seed Collection: To collect seeds, wait until the blooms have faded and seed heads have dried. Cut the dried flower heads and place them in a paper bag. Once fully dry, gently shake the bag to release the seeds.

Mulching & Garden Additives: Use organic mulch, such as shredded bark or pine needles, to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature. Adding compost or well-rotted manure in early spring will enrich the soil for healthy plant growth.
